About

Alfonce P. is a multidisciplinary artist based in Portugal, working across installation, drawing, sound, and performance. His practice centres on the ornamental alphabet — a personal visual language exploring pattern, space, and perception. He is the founder of Paz Nova Lua, a self-built creative space in Fundão, Portugal.

Alfonce P. lives art as a tool for inner journey — a permanent movement toward the perception of self and the structures of the world. Born from a Fine Arts education in Dijon and forged through decades of experimentation, his practice crosses drawing, ornament, installation, performance, video, sculpture, and sound.

At the heart of his work lies the ornamental alphabet — a visual language he has been developing since the age of 26, rooted in the symbolism of the cross and the geometry of intersection. This system of signs is not decoration but a living structure: a code that organises space, generates form, and connects the material to the invisible. It appears across all his disciplines, from intimate drawings to large-scale immersive installations.

His installations — including Hypérion and Théia — transform architecture through light, pattern, and frequency. Projected ornament breathes across stone walls and open sky; viewers discover how the rhythm of a pattern can alter their perception of space and of themselves. Sound extends this work further, entering the body directly through resonance and harmonic immersion.

From 2010 to today, Alfonce P. built Paz Nova Lua in Portugal — a space of natural construction, permaculture, and collective creation that became both a life project and an artistic statement: the idea that building a place, planting trees, and welcoming people is itself a form of art.

His work moves between protest and proposition, solitude and community, the archaic and the contemporary. He remains committed to art as a tool for individual and collective awakening — a bridge between what we are and what we might become.
