Ornamental Writing
Presentation
Ornamental writing finds its origin in a study of the cross.
Its roots are nourished by the values of the cross: intersection and crossing. The primary symbolism of the cross is union — of peoples, forces, and synergies.
The original cross from which this ornamental writing derives is structured around three points.
A vertical axis forming the main pillar, symbolising the relationship between earth and sky.
Circularity — the representation of permanent movement.
Symmetry, on both the vertical and horizontal axes.
From this research begun in 1989, a matrix was born — the central element of this creation.
Observing that the world is losing its diversity and moving towards a “regressive” uniformity, I introduced this bold idea: to depart from unity in order to encounter diversity.
Since then, I develop and travel through a matrix universe.
The first phase of development consisted of creating an alphabet, by crossing the matrix with its symmetry on a vertical or horizontal axis.
Signs then appear (module of 2) wherever there is a crossing, an intersection, a fusion of lines and tangents.
The operation repeats with modules of two to create modules of four, and with modules of four to create modules of eight.
This research, based on a conceptual model, leads to an empirical and intuitive development.
This work is rooted in the desire for a fusion between multiple cultures, building bridges between the knowledge of different periods in human history.
These imaginary exhibitions are both a study and a presentation tool. They provide an experimental framework for this research universe by confronting it with an applied context, and open it to the public through a clear presentation of the inhabited space.
Imagine these spaces as places of immersion — a dive into an ornamental world structured around a unique code.
Particular attention is paid to light — it underlines, it draws, it feeds the shadow, it reveals the trace.
